Microsoft Silverlight — Known Problems


Should you encounter errors when trying to view any of the sermons on this site, please ensure you have downloaded Microsoft Silverlight before continuing.

If you have Silverlight installed, but can only see a white box on the page, try the following (in order). Restarting your computer may be necessary. You can test if Silverlight is now working by refreshing any of the sermon pages, or refreshing the Silverlight Installation page.

  1. Ensure you are using either Internet Explorer, or Firefox as a web browser. (On Windows platforms).
    • Other browsers, such as Google Chrome, do not have Silverlight plugins available.
  2. Activate ActiveX Controls.
  3. Firefox Only: Enable the Silverlight Plugin.
    • Click on the Tools menu, then Manage Add-Ons.
    • Ensure the Silverlight Plugin is enabled.
  4. Uninstall and reinstall Microsoft Silverlight.
    • Open your Start Menu, and click on Control Panel.
    • Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
    • Locate, and uninstall Microsoft Silverlight. (All versions/packages)
    • Close the Add/Remove Programs window, and the Control Panel window.
    • Open 'My Computer', then your Hard Drive (Usually C:), then Program Files.
    • If a folder titled 'Silverlight' or 'Microsoft Silverlight' exists, delete it.
    • Reinstall Microsoft Silverlight
  5. Update your Microsoft .NET Framework.
    • If Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 is currently installed, click on Change/Remove, then chose the Repair option.
  6. Update your video card drivers.

If after attempting all of the above options, you still see a white box when trying to view the sermons on our website, please email us at cog.webteam@gmail.com with the following information:

  • What Operating System you are using (Windows XP, etc):
  • Any error messages you may have received:

If you are encountering problems with video or audio, but can see the Silverlight player, please let us know the exact problems you are having.
